fiction

While most of this website is devoted to various and sundry non-fiction subjects, a little fiction is appropriate as well.

In case you missed them, links to three short stories are tucked away in an assortment of webpages. I wrote the stories as various moments of whimsy grabbed me.

Each story in its own way is illustrative of a certain part of the spiritual journey, but the common thread is a lesson about expectations. What we want is rarely what we get, but what we get is usually greater than we expected.

In The Brick a youngster is succinctly taught the real meaning of karma by his guru.

While in Arriving at Heaven we get to see St. Peter sorting through three new arrivals at the pearly gates.

The third short story was enormous fun to write. I asked myself one day what it might be like if a clueless rookie spiritual seeker met the wisest guru in the world. What sort of of dialogue might take place? Click here to read Visiting The Guru.

That wraps up the short stories. Now elsewhere on this website I take a serious look at the next 200 years of change, which includes the year 2012 and what it might signify. And that's fine for those webpages.

But what's also okay is to take a more light-hearted and whimsical look at 2012.  As it turned out, that takes a book, in fact more than one book. You have to call these books fiction, because they are.

Book One:

The Return of the Pleiadians

The Return of the Pleiadians
Book Two:

The Handmaidens of Anarchy

The Handmaidens of Anarchy

For me the easiest way to have a bit of fun with 2012 was to write a series of books, which I loosely describe as science fiction fantasy thrillers, although there's a soap opera quality to them as well. Take a crew of wacky fictional characters, toss them into the worst possible scenario for 2012, and viola, welcome to the 2012 Saga.

Click here so you can read more about the bottom falling out of the fictional world which the characters are trying to sort out and live in. It's part allogorical, part fiction, and mainly a delightfully entertaining read.

Imagine a 70-year-old lady who still thinks it's 1969 and the Woodstock Festival, and she can roll the meanest joints in town to prove it. Or perhaps you'd like to meet the secret organization which seeks to run the world but only seems to be able to blow up its own computers. There's always the army general who's so full of himself that he knows how to swagger when he's standing still. And don't forget the space aliens, although they still haven't quite figured out how to buy a decent cup of coffee.

Please understand that the waiting list for appointments is closed as I segue into retirement.
