BOOK TWO   is ready

Book Blog:
Here's where things are,
more or less:

Sept., 10, 2005:

Book Two, The Handmaidens of Anarchy, is ready!

And if I say so myself, it's better than the first book. Of course, I'm completely impartial in that assessment. <wink>

For now it can only be ordered from my page at the publisher's website.

Free shipping! Order both Book One (The Return of the Pleiadians) and Book Two (The Handmaidens of Anarchy) together, click on "supersaver shipping" and get free shipping anywhere in the US and Canada.

When will the books be available at Amazon? God only knows, and she's not saying right now.

And as for Book Three? Ah, I knew you'd ask. Well, I've begun it, just a little, just enough that I know where it's going. Be patient. I'm aiming for a 2006 release.

Aug, 26, 2005:

You know I'm down to the final draft of Book Two when I select a title:   The Handmaidens of Anarchy.

Release date will be no later than November, 2005. While I'd love to have it out earlier, (and I will if it's possible) I can't promise that.

There's a lot of detail work to wrap up a book, like designing a cover to name one. Ralph, my graphics guy, is promising a terrific cover. Can't wait.

The Handmaidens of Anarchy is about 30 pages longer (give or take a few pages) than the first book in the series and runs between 75,000 and 80,000 words in 38 chapters. See the blog entry below for a plot synopsis.

You will be able to order The Handmaidens of Anarchy off of the links on this website right away as soon as the book is complete. Sign up on the left hand column of this page to get email notification the day it's available.

Good news about shipping costs for the second book. My publisher, Lulu.com, will give you free shipping anywhere in Canada or the US if you order both Book One and Two at the same time and specify "supersaver shipping".

That means you will get the absolute best price available by ordering through the links on this website, even better than the Amazon.com price. Why? Amazon takes my website price and adds a markup to cover their costs. How did you think they make their money?

Still, if you like ordering through Amazon, please be prepared to be very patient. Amazon is big and bureaucratic. They are still is dithering about getting the first book listed. Talk about slow! The way it's going now I might well have the second book out before Amazon lists the first one. Anybody up for a turtle race?

Aug, 5, 2005:

I did not believe how much bureaucracy was involved in getting The Return of the Pleiadians up on Amazon.com. None of it was all that unreasonable, just time consuming. Oh boy, time consuming.

Anyway, my stuff for that is completed and submitted, and the wheels are finally turning on their own. By the end of this month (August, 2005) or early in September, all you Amazon.com lovers will be able to get the book there if you wish.

Whew, glad that's done. So now I've gotten back to what I really like to do, writing. Right now, I'm well into the rough draft of Book Two, and guess what the working title is?  Book Two

Okay, so the title will be the last thing that gets written. (shrug) It's just my way of doing things.

Yes, I hear you. My goodness gracious, there are plot junkies galore out there. Okay, okay. I've read your emails. I understand how curious you are about what happens next. So am I, that's why I keep writing.

Anyway, since several of you asked, here's a little teaser for the plot summary. I absolutely will not be saying another word about Book Two's plot until the book is released, so please don't email me anymore on this one. Thanks so much.

Book Two begins Friday, October 26, 2012, first thing in the morning. It picks up right where Book One (The Return of the Pleiadians) left off. With any kind of luck, we'll be getting our characters through to mid afternoon by the end of this second volume. To get them past mid-day has taken more than thirty chapters.

Book Two has an ominous quality. Clouds are gathering on the horizon, and most of them are very dark. The city of River Branch is headed down the path to serious, serious crises, anarchy even.

First of all, we finally find out what Andrew does for a living, and it's not pretty. In fact it's density, rot, and corruption with trouble galore. He is put in an impossible situation where no matter what he does, things get worse -- not only for Andrew, but for the entire city.

We get to see Melos in action when he sets out on a little adventure of his own. Can't say too much about this, because I don't want to give away the plot, but this is one very busy Pleiadian, cropping up all over the place while confounding the humans to no end.

Zelda becomes the ham-fisted den-mother of the R-Street gang, and Rathouse? Well, she's got designs on expanding the R-Street gang's influence into Stinger's turf. This is one very dicey situation which gets even worse when Zelda gets Rathouse so stoned Rathouse decides to launch a raid into the safe zone.

The situation with the Pink Flamingo Gymnasium on Buchanan Street has taken a bizzare twist, and it's anybody's guess what happens there next. Don't ask. In particular, don't ask the soldiers guarding the building. They're scared out of their wits about what's going on at the gym, and they're ready to run out the door screaming.

However, General Rammet discovers he has far bigger trouble brewing elsewhere in the city, and whether Jeffery likes it or not (and he doesn't), Sonja orders him to get involved up to his eyeballs in the army's problems.

Oh yes, the ancient code. It seems this decoding business is going to be far more tricky than anyone first thought. Even the Easter bunny isn't going to help. This part of the plot is under wraps, just like the ancient code itself.

And as for Skull? What can I say about Skull except that he's a villian, so he's up to no good. No good? Egads, this is one nasty villian. How nasty is he? (Hint: very nasty indeed.) But he did pay attention in Bible school.

Ah yes, Cleomedeos. Well, we finally find out just what his agenda is. Of course, he's still stirring things up at every available opportunity, but he has some very good reasons to do so, or at least he thinks so.

Naturally, there's a few other unexpected twists to the plot and some new characters, too. For instance, who really is running this decaying city? And what does Zelda's dog do when she goes for a walk? (Hint: the dog does not chase squirrels.)

And as for the ending? It's not what you're expecting. Not at all. It's going to take at least Book Three to sort out this ending. Maybe more. Trust me, I wasn't expecting this, either. Not to worry, you'll understand it right away, but the problem is that Walter won't.

April 16, 2005:

Our characters aren't going to get as long a rest as they might have thought.

With the quick availability of The Return of the Pleiadians through the publisher, the next step is doing the bureaucracy of getting the book to Amazon.com, and into the distribution system for main stream bookstores.

It's a little unclear how long this process might take, as various experts sketch out the time frame as a few of weeks, more or less. It seems my input will be mainly at the front end, but details which must be followed up diligently over a period of time will have to be attended to.

(Yipes! I just ended a sentence with a preposition. Sir Winston Churchill, who knew a thing or two about the English language, condemned the practice. He even once said that it was "something up with which I would not put.")

But no matter. One step at a time. Everything gets looked after.

Publishing a book in the modern world entails a lot. Writing it seems to be only half the job. But not to worry. Once all these other things are done, it's back to writing Book Two.

March 15, 2005:

Yes, I've already gotten started on Book Two in the 2012 Saga series.

But I have to tell you the truth. I've now put Book Two aside whilst I get the first book up and published.

My goodness there's so much to do to finish up. While the word processer dots the i's and crosses the t's, I have to look after all the myraid of other detail required to wrap up the first book and get it ready for you to order.

It has to be done, after all. Book Two doesn't make any sense unless the first book is already out there for your reading enjoyment, right?

So those whizzing electrons holding together the next volume get a little rest this spring.

But by summer, those little guys will be spinning their orbits off as I get back to work on the second volume.

You'll hear about it here first.
